About Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station

QAre international agencies conducting reviews of the situation at the power station?
AYes, the International Atomic Energy Agency has conducted four reviews.

A team of experts commissioned by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has conducted reviews of the situation at Fukushima Daiichi, including contaminated water management and decommissioning initiatives. The results of these reviews are published online.

Following the accident, the central government laid out plans, processes, and targets for the decommissioning of the power plant in the Mid-and-Long-Term Roadmap Towards the Decommissioning of TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.

At the request of the Government of Japan, the IAEA has conducted four international peer reviews of the roadmap. They were conducted April 2013, November–December 2013, February 2015, and November 2018. The findings of the reviews have been compiled in reports that are available on the IAEA website.
