Ninki-Shuzo Co., Ltd. is a sake brewery located in Nihonmatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture, specializing in handcrafted ginjo sake. Double Helix Structured "Aizu Sazaedo"

Aizu Sazaedo is a three-story, hexagonal pagoda standing 16.5 meters tall on Mount Iimori in Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. Its official name is "Entsu Sansodo," and it was designed by Ikudo, the head priest of Seishoji Temple, in 1796. The interior features a rare wooden double helix structure, where the pathways for ascending and descending are separate, allowing pilgrims to walk without encountering one another. The temple once housed statues of the Thirty-three Kannon of the Western Pilgrimage, and it was believed that walking through the building would complete the pilgrimage. Due to its unique architectural style, the structure was designated as an Important Cultural Property by the Japanese government in 1996.

One of Japan's three most spectacular waterfalls

Located in the Taihaku area of Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, Akiu Great Falls runs straight down a 55m high, 6m wide rock face. It was selected as one of Japan's Best 100 Waterfalls and as one of the best views in Japan. The mightiness of this waterfall has earned it a spot as one of Japan's three most famous waterfalls, together with Kegon Falls in Tochigi Prefecture and Nachi Falls in Wakayama Prefecture. Akiu Great Falls is surrounded by trees such maples and oaks, which draw crowds from mid-October to early November with their colorful leaves. You can take in a panoramic view from the Takimidai viewpoint. The waterfall is a 5-10 minute walk along the walking path next to Fudotaki Bridge. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes, as there is a steep slope.

Open 10:00am - 4:00pm. Sit in one of 40 all-weather seats and enjoy a wide-ranging menu from grilled stuffed squid to local seasonal fish, grilled flounder, and Sakhalin surf clams on rice. On weekdays, you can book a session to grill seafood by yourself for even more fun!

Mystical Snowshoe Tour of the Goshikinuma Lakes in Winter

The "Mystical Glow:Blue Goshikinuma Tour" hosted by Haregasaya Activities is a limited-time winter snowshoe tour. With the snow opening up the views, guests can fully enjoy the beauty of the blue Goshikinuma Lakes, which stand out against the pristine white snowfields. The tour includes special winter routes that are typically inaccessible, such as the "Kuro-numa" (Black Pond) and the "spot where the blue lake looks most beautiful." Experienced guides will lead the way. This tour is open to participants aged middle school and above, and includes rental of snowshoes and trekking poles, making it accessible even for beginners.

Aizu Bukeyashiki is a museum park featuring exhibits such as the residence of Saigo Tanomo, chief retainer of the Aizu clan, Jinya (an Important Cultural Property), and various museums. In the vast grounds, measuring around 23,000m2, you'll find restored buildings such as the senior retainer's home and tearoom, offering a glimpse into the way of life and culture of the era. You can tour the inside of these historic buildings and enjoy the variety of facilities that have been opened there today, from traditional craft workshops to Kuyotei, a restaurant serving local cuisine, and Satokobo Kokon, which sells a range of souvenirs. Events are held throughout the year, drawing a wide range of visitors from history buffs to families.

Tsurugajo Castle, a Historic Landmark of Aizu

Tsurugajo Castle, located in Aizuwakamatsu City, is a symbol of the region and was originally built about 430 years ago by Gamou Ujisato, who constructed the first true donjon (castle tower) in eastern Japan. During the Boshin War, the castle endured a fierce month-long siege and became famous as the "impregnable castle." Though the castle was demolished in 1874, the donjon was rebuilt in 1965, and in 2011, the roof was re-covered with red tiles to restore the appearance of the castle to its late Edo period form. Inside the donjon is a museum where visitors can learn about the history of Aizu. Additionally, Tsurugajo Castle Park, which spans approximately 69,000 tsubo (about 22.8 hectares), offers beautiful views of the changing seasons.

A natural hot spring surrounded by a stunning gorge

Located in Aizu's around 1,300 year old Higashiyama hot spring village, this inn has its own natural spring. Iwaki Nanahama Kaido in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture is a 53km cycling road from Nakosonoseki Park to the green area for disaster prevention at Hisano Beach. The road follows pine-lined, white-sand beaches, and is cherished by many local cyclists as a symbol of the area's recovery. You'll pass breakwaters and the area's national, prefectural and municipal roads, with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. The road fully opened in March 2021 and has been a popular recreational area among locals and tourists ever since.
